WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

A wonderful haven of tranquility, the Casa Pestagua is a sumptuous colonial mansion and boutique hotel right at the heart of Cartagena’s UNESCO walled city. Dating back to the 18th century, its lofty arches and palm fringed patios evoke Moorish palaces of old while throughout the Casa Pestagua is beautifully decorated with statues, frescoes and charming antique furniture. Through the huge hand-carved doors which spill directly onto the cobbled streets, a narrow tree-lined courtyard and fountain leads to a handsome patio and pool ringed with sun loungers – perfect for escaping the heat and bustle of town! Although there is no spa per-se, guests have access to the Aurum Spa within Casa Pestagua’s sister property (the Ananda) close by. The Casa Pestagua offers the height of refined elegance in Cartagena with wonderful communal areas, a standout feature in a cluttered colonial town. The atmosphere is rather formal and lacks the personal touches of other boutique hotels yet the immaculate style and opulent décor more than compensates.
