Ever delightful Kuching is located on the banks of the Sarawak River and is the capital city of Sarawak. The city is easily navigated on foot and by following the well signed heritage trail, that links the temples and churches, you will be able to take in the highlights in a full day.

Besides following the heritage trail a trip in a traditional Sampan along the Sarawak River makes for an unforgettable experience. From your vantage point on the river you will get a spectacular view of the Malay Kampungs (villages) set against the gorgeous mountainous background as well as a view of the 19th century Chinese shop houses, the Malay mosque, the square tower and the striking Margherita Fort. For those with an interest in seeing Orang-Utan but not wanting to trek deep in to the jungles, a trip to the nearby Semenggok Wildlife Rehab Centre is the best option. The centre also rehabilitates other wildlife including monkeys, honey bears and hornbills which have been orphaned or kept illegally.
