United Arab Emirates - Oasis Highlights

There are so many highlights in this fascinating country that it is impossible to list them all here. Our travel consultants will discuss your interests and be able to put a specific itinerary together for you, but below are a few must seeā€™s!

DUBAI

Dubai claims to be the worldā€™s fastest-growing city. Over the past four decades, this city has metamorphosed from a small Gulf trading port to become one of the worldā€™s most exciting and futuristic urban destinations. Fueled partly by petrodollars, its peopleā€™s ability is to dream the impossible. Marvel at the stunning developments such as the soaring Burj Khalifa, the magnificent Burj al Arab and the vast peace of Palm Jumeirah island. A testament to the ruling sheikhsā€™ determination to make the city one of the worldā€™s essential destinations for the twenty-first century.

SHARJAH

Dubai may have its flashy tall buildings and shop-till-you-drop malls, but neighbouring Sharjah is more subtle in its approach. Here they have forgone the glitz to concentrate on the culture and history. Some may be put off by its conservative reputation regarding alcohol. The emirate is ā€˜dryā€™, but if you want to discover the country’s best museums and art galleries, you can handle a day or even two without your usual tipple. Visit the restored Sharjah Heritage Area and the mind-bogglingly vast history of the Mleiha Archaeological Site.

JEBEL JAIS

Jebel Jais is the highest peak in the UAE. At 1934 metres this mountain is occasionally dusted with snow. The switchback road snakes dramatically up the mountainside delivering us vistas of barren, eroded cliffs, deep canyons and warped escarpments around every bend. There are several pullouts for photograph stops along the way, but the ultimate panoramic mountain views, are found at Viewing Deck Park nearer to the summit. For an up-close-and-personal mountain experience, Jebel Jais has a zip line and a via ferrata, a mountain route equipped with, ladders, steel cables and other fixed anchors, wooden walkways and suspended bridges.
