Constantine

Algeria - Northeast Algeria

Constantine, known as the city of bridges, is an exciting place of steep cliffs and occupies a rocky diamond-shaped plateau surrounded, by a precipitous gorge through the eastern side of which flows the Rhumel River.

Here you will discover the highest setting for one of Algeria’s most labyrinthine type casbahs. The gorge is crossed by the el-Kantara Bridge, a modern 130-metre structure built on the site of previous bridges. North and south of the town are, respectively, a suspension bridge and a viaduct.
