Dating back to the first Jesuit settlers in the late 16th century, Estancia Los Potreros is now owned by the Anglo-Argentine Begg family and offers a slice of authentic estancia life and some of the finest riding in all Argentina. Each day, guests head out to explore the countryside, cantering along grassy hilltops; taking a dip in natural rock pools; visiting local churches on horseback or helping out the gauchos on the ranch. The ranch caters to beginners and experts alike and no visit would be complete without trying your hand at throwing the lasso or even playing polo. Out of the saddle, there is excellent walking, bird-watching or simply relaxing around the pool. Meals are a hearty affair; traditional ‘asado’ barbeques are never far away and always accompanied by home baked bread and fresh vegetables plucked from the gardens. Lunch and dinner are usually taken together at the family table, usually hosted by one of the Begg family. Los Potreros offers a wonderful estancia experience for all the family, an absolute must for keen riders.
