Nestled amidst native beech trees at the foot of the magnificent Mount Fitzroy, Hosteria El Pilar is a small charming lodge, 17km away from the town of el Chalten. Constructed in 1994 by Marcelo Pagani, a keen hiker and climber, the lodge recreates the classic look of the pioneer estancias. A red tin roof tops the yellow corrugated frame all enclosed by a neat, white picket fence. Inside, the frontier spirit continues with wood-burning stoves, timber floorboards and antique fittings offset with soft, homely furnishings.
