Lake Sevan is the largest Lake in Armenia and the Caucasus region. Located 60 km from Yerevan, it is well connected to the capital with many different transportation options.

With an altitude of 1,900 meters above sea level, it is one of the highest lakes in the world. The name Sevan is of Urartian origin and is derived of Siuna, meaning county of lakes. Divided into two sections: Big Sevan and Small Sevan; Big Sevan covers 972 km2, and Small Sevan covers 284 km2. In summer, this fantastic, very blue Lake is a popular summer beach destination with many resorts, cabanas, fish restaurants and other amenities for visitors.
