Overlooking Lake Titicaca, the Posada del Inca is perched into the lush hillside of Bolivia’s Island of the Sun a short boat-trip away from the lakeside town of Copacabana.
Rising high above Lake Titicaca with magnificent views across the water, the Posada del Inca is a charming 17th century hacienda and rustic guesthouse perched into the lush hillside of Bolivia’s Island of the Sun. Accessed to the mainland by boat from Copacabana followed by a short walk from the dock, the Posada del Inca is a haven of peace and tranquility set amongst rolling terraces. The hacienda has been carefully restored to maintain its traditional character. Adobe walls are topped with terracotta tiles and local thatch and tucked amongst fruit trees and beautiful gardens. In the evening, guests enjoy a drink around a roaring open fire in the lounge before retiring to the restaurant which specialise in local Andean dishes, many of the ingredients plucked from the posada’s greenhouse. The Posada del Inca is far from luxurious yet its serene setting coupled with majestic lake vistas makes this a wonderful spot for a relaxing short stay and escaping the regular day tours. The grounds themselves are dotted with inca artefacts while heading further afield, you can explore the island’s traditional villages, ruins and trails all under the shadow of the distant Cordillera Real mountains.
