Set amidst glorious gallery forest and well-watered plains between Lakes Sia Mariana and Chacorore, the Pousada Rio Mutum offers a wonderful introduction to Brazil’s Pantanal. The Lodge sits in 9 hectares of well-maintained grounds beneath the leafy shelter of mango trees which attract a wide variety of birdlife. There is handsome pool ringed with loungers perfect for cooling off in the afternoon while additional facilities include a gift-shop and terrace bar. The Pantanal is a paradise for wildlife and the surrounding landscapes teem with flora and fauna. Spot deer and peccary from horseback as you ride through the pampa or drift on a boat past heron, storks and spoonbills while caiman laze on the riverbanks. The lodge offers fully inclusive packages with daily excursions led by experienced, local guides. The Pousada Rio Mutum is among our favourite lodges in the Pantanal, excellent value for money and easily accessible from the outside world.
