WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

Built in the 18th century, the Pousada do Ouro retains Paraty’s rich old-world heritage – step through the traditional white-washed façade and you discover a tranquil haven bursting with tropical plants, wooden beams, cobbled patios and the odd splash of vibrant colour. Centrepiece of the pousada is a handsome pool, a rarity in Paraty where you can escape the heat of the day and wind down well away from the tourist bustle. The pousada is ideally placed for exploring Paraty and even runs its own schooner where you can enjoy scenic cruises around the picturesque bay and islands all set against the forested peaks and Atlantic Rainforest of Brazil’s Green Coast. The pousada has no restaurant per se but there are plenty of good eateries right on your doorstep. The Pousada do Ouro offers no great luxury but typifies Paraty with its traditional rustic character and warm friendly service.
