Banfora may appear as a sleepy town, but it is best described as one of the most beautiful areas in Burkina Faso. It makes an ideal base for exploring the lush surrounding countryside: scaling up the magnificent Dômes de Fabedougou and taking a dip in the Karfiguéla Falls and a boat ride on Tengréla Lake.
Gaoua is a thriving market town in southern Burkina Faso known for its superstitious values and customs. Located in the red earth, green hills, and fast-flowing streams of southwestern Burkina Faso, Gaoua forms the centre for the sacred rites and bush lore of the Lobi tribes.
Include in your itinerary the sacred grove of trees and the Poni Museum. This excellent ethnological museum contains full-scale reproductions of both Lobi and Gan compounds, as well as a wide range of photographs of the region and local artefacts.
