WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL
La Villa was originally constructed in the 1930’s, during the French colonial period when the European style of architecture was very fashionable, by a tradesman from Battambang. The proprietor, Mr Eap Heo later bequeathed his home to his two youngest children who then lived in the residence till the coup d’etat in 1975. After the Khmer rouge period, the house became the general quarters for the Vietnamese army. It was given to a Cambodian general after their departure. For many years following this the house was partially leased and squatted in before eventually being sold in 2004 to a young expatriate couple.
After significant renovations, the house regained its splendour in the form of a charming 7 bedroom guest house that will captivate anyone that would like to re-live and experience an Indochinese atmosphere. The ambiance that the house would have had in the 1930’s has been recreated with Art deco furniture, electrical equipment from that era and fascinating old photos.
This little gem of place is one of our favourite places in Cambodia! What it lacks in terms of facilities is more than made up in charisma, a real throw back to the colonial era!
This is just one of the hotels that we recommend in this area. If your favourite is not featured just let your consultant know – we will be happy to book it for you!
