Canada - DESTINATIONS & HOTELS

Cape Breton Island

Cape Breton Island is off the Atlantic coast part of the province of Nova Scotia. In addition to spectacular coastal landscapes, with rustic forests, scenic valleys and imposing highlands,  here you will discover a vibrant culture shaped by the traditions and heritage of the Mi'kmaq, Acadian and Gaelic people who have been sharing this land for hundreds of years.

Explore magnificent beaches, the superb Cabot Trail, which dips and dives around the edge of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and tiny quaint coastal villages. Embrace this area's Scottish heritage and witness a Ceilidh in one of the region's traditional pubs.  You can turn back the clock at the interactive Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site and learn what life was like underground in the Miner's Museum. Don't forget to sample a sip of the single malt whiskey at the Glenora Distillery.

During your Maritime road trip, you will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy seafood freshly caught by local fishermen when the Lobster season starts in early May. From craft breweries, a winery, and North America's first single malt whiskey distillery to browsing the many inventions created by famed inventor Alexander Graham Bell you'll discover there's a lot to experience on Cape Breton Island.
