Churchill

Canada - Canadian Prairies

Churchill is one thousand or so kilometres north of Winnipeg. Located on Treaty 5 Territory, the original lands of the Ininiwak, Anish-Ininiwak and Dene and home to Inuit and Métis.

Explore where retreating glaciers etched marks on billions of years old rocks. Tour a 300-year-old stone fort established by the Hudson’s Bay Company, or take a thrilling dogsled ride to learn about the importance of this mode of transportation for the people of the North.

Admire intricate carvings and other Inuit art and artifacts at the Itsanitaq Museum. Don’t be surprised if Churchill surprises you, from hiking through vibrant fireweed to finding a shipwreck or discovering the town’s character brought to life in colourful murals.
