WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

Dating back to 1870, the Hotel Fauna is a traditional three-story house that epitomises the bohemian feel of Valpo and boasts sweeping views across the bay and port. Behind its traditional façade, the Fauna merges much of the building’s original features – including Cerro Alegre’s retaining wall – together with polished wood, metal and brick to create a modern industrial feel. The rooms are all elegant yet simply furnished and it is well worth paying extra for a sweeping panorama of the bay.
There is no shortage of bars and restaurants in Valparaiso but few offer the views and terrace of Hotel Fauna, a popular spot for guests to enjoy a meal or sun-downer as the sun sets over the city. The Hotel Fauna is a charming addition to Valparaiso and although far from luxurious, is friendly, welcoming and excellent value for money. Full of nooks, crannies, stairs and walkways (much like Valpo itself), It would particularly appeal to younger travellers or those looking to capture the vibrant city atmosphere.
