WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

Inspired by the island’s rich heritage, the Hotel Altiplanico recreates the classic look of a traditional Rapa Nui boathouse and merges warm, pine beams with local volcanic rock and features terraces throughout to capture the breath taking views. The spacious grounds abound with fruit trees and even incorporate a number of small, archaeological sites, all carefully preserved. The decor is simple yet elegant; rich, wooden beams and panels lifted by a splash of contemporary colour and each room opens through sliding doors onto a private terrace overlooking the ocean. The restaurant offers a fusion of Chilean, Peruvian and Rapa Nui inspired cuisine and makes good use of the island’s delicious seafood with fresh local lobster, tuna and kana kana (similar to turbot) accompanied by tropical fruits and vegetables. There are comfortable, communal spaces throughout from the open plan lounge, bar and restaurant which spill onto an open deck to the handsome, circular outdoor pool, all tastefully decorated with local motifs. The Hotel Altiplanico is among our favourite options on the island, a charming base from which to explore the rich culture of Easter Island. The main town Hanga Roa is just in reach, a lovely 30 minute cliff top walk away.
