WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

The Hotel de la Opera is a colonial gem at the heart of Bogota. Loving converted into a charming boutique property, the Hotel de la Opera encompasses two historic townhouses and is perched next to the Colon theatre. Behind the elegant, republican façade, the Opera offers a rich slice of colonial history and is awash with wooden balconies, parquet floors, antique furniture and classic works of art. From the upper reaches of the hotel, fabulous views look out across the terracotta tiled rooftops and spires of the city. The rooms span two interior courtyards, a number with balconies overlooking the cobbled streets, and they are all elegantly furnished with a mix of art deco and classic period design. The two restaurants both receive good feedback – La Scala which delivers delicious Mediterranean flavours while El Mirador specialises in regional cuisine and commands dreamy views across the picturesque old town. La Opera is perfectly positioned for visiting the Museum of Colonial Art as well as the Gold and Botero Museum or simply pottering through the narrow, cobbled alleys. Rooms are simple yet its location and old-world charm make La Opera one of our favourite hotel in Bogota.
