Zagreb

Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, exudes a youthful and playful spirit, even though its old town boasts nearly a thousand years of history. Everyone sees Zagreb differently. Some see it as a lively capital, while others consider it a city made to measure.

Many love it because it maintains its connection to nature, while others are attracted by the numerous possibilities offered by a large city. Zagreb is okay with it however you see it. Wander through Ilica, ride the funicular to the Upper Town, have a cup of coffee on the “špica”, a popular meeting place, or escape to the green embrace of the Maksimir park. Make sure to visit some of the city’s hidden gems. First mentioned in 1355, The Black Eagle, now working as the city pharmacy in Zagreb, is the oldest pharmacy in the Zagreb region, perched at the top of Kamenita Street. Countless pharmacists have worked there throughout history, but the most famous was Niccolò Alighieri, great-grandson of Dante Alighieri, the author of Divine Comedy. In recent years street art in Zagreb experienced a true flourish thanks to many talented artists and collectives and various projects, and today the city is full of murals that are emerging every month. Dugave neighbourhood, an unfinished university hospital in Blato, a stretch of Branimir Street from Branimir Centre till Branimir Market, city parks, and facades, almost at every corner a mural can be encountered.
