M/V Hondius

Cruise Ship Details

Launched in June 2019, the MV Hondius is the latest in a new generation of polar expedition ships and the first-registered Polar Class 6 vessel in the world, the highest classification given to ice-strengthened vessels. Featuring advanced navigational technology and powerful, modern stabilisers, the Hondius offers a more flexible polar exploration approach which allows it to push deeper into the ice-choked channels of the Antarctic in search of wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. There are 80 private cabins spread across 4 decks. Categories range from cosy modern port-hole cabins to larger window, superior and deluxe options that are all tastefully furnished with warm modern colours and materials. If you are looking to spoil yourself, why not upgrade to a junior suite with floor to ceiling windows, perfect for drinking up the views or even the grand suite with its own private balcony. Designed for exploration, an entire deck has been set aside for passengers. Here, you can relax in the bar and large observation lounge or head to the separate lecture room which hosts a wide variety of interactive workshops, exhibitions, and displays.

Although large in terms of expedition vessels – 350ft with a capacity for 170 passengers – the Hondius handles shore landings very well through two separate gangways to give passengers maximum contact with surrounding nature and wildlife. The MV Hondius strikes the ideal balance between comfort and exploration and is ideal for wildlife minded passengers looking to experience the raw beauty of Antarctica.
