Denmark - Info & Facts

Suggested length of stay

It depends on what you want to do and see while there. If you’re interested in exploring Copenhagen, you could easily spend a week or more there, discovering all the city offers. However, if you want to see more of the country, We suggest staying for at least two weeks to understand the culture and history. Don’t forget to check out the beautiful countryside, charming villages, and stunning coastline.

Modes of transport

Road
The roads were well-maintained and easy to navigate, and the drivers were generally courteous and followed traffic rules. Bike lanes and pedestrian crossings, which made commuting safer for everyone, are well identifiable. The only downside is the high tolls on some of the highways.

Air
Domestic flights in Denmark are convenient and time-saving for those who need to travel between cities quickly. However, the cost of these flights can be quite high compared to other modes of transportation, such as trains or buses. It really depends on your budget and how urgent your travel needs are. If you have the resources and need to get somewhere quickly, a domestic flight in Denmark could be worth it. But other transportation options might be better for you if you’re looking to save money and don’t mind taking a little longer to reach your destination.

Rail
Travelling by train from Copenhagen to the rest of Denmark is easy. A train from Copenhagen to Aarhus will take three hours, to Aalborg four hours, and an hour and a half to Odense. DSB is the official Danish national rail operator, and you can see train routes, find times and book train tickets on the DSB website or by calling +45 70 13 14 15.

Ferry
As you’d expect, from a country with many islands, boats and ferries, provide an essential service. It’s also a refreshing way to travel. Several major tour operators run ferry and cruise services to Denmark from other European destinations, including Scandlines, Color Line, Fjord Line and Stena Line. DFDS operates a two-night cruise from Copenhagen to Oslo with overnight travel to Oslo, a day (6.5 hours) in the city and overnight travel back, among other routes. Within Denmark, numerous ferries and passenger boats will take you to the many smaller Danish islands.
