A comfortable 80 foot riverboat custom built in 2002 for rainforest cruises, the MV Manatee Amazon Explorer offers 4, 5 and 8 day cruises along the mighty Napo River to explore the breathtaking flora and fauna of Yasuni National Park.
The MV Manatee is spread over 3 handsome decks and features generous air-conditioned communal spaces including indoor and outdoor dining areas and an attractive sun deck and bar. There are 14 cosy, en-suite cabins which cater to a maximum of 30 passengers. The decor is light and breezy with large picture windows and bathrooms which feature massage showers and hot running water. All meals and excursions are included and each day, guests head out on guided walks, boat-trips and visits to indigenous communities accompanied by naturalist guides. Back on the boat, there are regular lectures on the resident wildlife as well as a small reference library and computer lounge with access to the internet.
The MV Manatee is a good budget option in the heart of the Amazon wilderness. Facilities and modern amenities may be lacking but the warm, friendly atmosphere and traditional Ecuadorian hospitality more than makes up for it. Wildlife viewing improves the further you travel upriver and we recommend the longer 5 and 8 day itineraries.
