Yllas – Kolari

Finland - Lapland

Located 150km north of the Arctic Circle in Finnish Lapland, YllƤs is one of Finlandā€™s most popular year-round holiday destinations. It is comprised of two Lappish villages, on the southern side of the fell lies YllƤsjƤrvi, and to the north is ƄkƤslompolo, also known as the Village of Seven Fells.

The unique fell landscapes and nature have long attracted visitors keen to experience the regionā€™s natural beauty. One of the reasons for YllƤsā€™s popularity is its proximity to Pallas-YllƤstunturi National Park, the most visited in Finland, and renowned for having the worldā€™s cleanest air. YllƤs Ski Resort is by far the largest in Finland, with 63 slopes served by 28 ski lifts during peak season. Almost half of the slopes are over 1km long, with the eight longest ranging between 2km and 3km in length. YllƤs Ski Resort has the only sauna gondola in the world, as well as their scenic all-year gondola, the highest in Finland.

Cross-country skiers are served by 330 km of well-maintained cross-country ski trails through fell nature offering spectacular views, many taking visitors to Pallas-YllƤstunturi National Park, a region of pristine nature. There are some 20 cozy skiing and wilderness cafƩs along the YllƤs Ski Trails offering hot drinks and a light lunch. Other popular winter activities include aurora hunting tours, snowmobile safaris, husky sled and reindeer sleigh rides, horse trekking, winter biking, snowshoe treks, and ice-fishing.
