Potsdam is a city rich in culture and history, boasting magnificent architecture and renowned scholars.

During the Cold War, it was a significant focal point. 300 years ago, the Prussian kings transformed Potsdam into a splendid royal city, commissioning grand monuments to Classicism and creating a Baroque dream in and around the area. The Palaces and Parks of Potsdam, covering approximately 500 hectares of parkland and comprising 150 buildings dating back to 1730, were designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1990. To start off a leisurely stroll, one could begin at the Alter Markt square, taking in notable landmarks such as St. Nicholas Church, the Lustgarten park, the Old Town Hall, the Barberini Museum, and the reconstructed former City Palace. Across the way from Alter Markt, tucked away a bit, is the Neuer Markt square, considered one of the best-preserved Baroque squares in Europe.
