Gibraltar

Located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, Gibraltar is renowned for its historical significance as the southernmost point of Europe. Strategically positioned at the western end of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar forms one of the ancient Pillars of Hercules.

Spain lies to the north, while Morocco (North Africa) is situated to the south, on the other side of the 24-kilometre (15-mile) strait. The Rock is predominantly composed of Jurassic Limestone that dates back to approximately 200 million years ago.
