Gibraltar - Oasis Highlights

There are so many highlights in this fascinating country that it is impossible to list them all here. Our travel consultants will discuss your interests and be able to put a specific itinerary together for you, but below are a few must seeā€™s!

Casemates Square

The Grand Casemates, a casemate and bombproof barracks built by the British in 1817, lends its name to the square. Situated at the northern end of Main Street, the square boasts a plethora of pubs, bars, and restaurants. Once the location of public executions, this lively area is strategically positioned at the entrance of Gibraltar’s shopping district. Car parks previously occupied half of the square until the 1990s, when al fresco dining options replaced them. The square also hosts various major cultural events, including live open-air concerts, grand military parades, National Day celebrations, and New Year’s Eve parties.

Lower St Michael’s Cave

For more than two millennia, the upper section of St Michael’s Cave has served multiple purposes, including as a hospital during World War II. However, it wasn’t until 1942 that the sappers inadvertently stumbled upon Lower St Michael’s Cave while digging a tunnel to create a secondary exit.
