Qaanaaq

Greenland - North Greenland

If you’re looking for a destination offering extreme experiences, Qaanaaq is the perfect place. It’s the northernmost town in North Greenland, and for 3.5 months of the year, the sun never rises above the horizon, creating a time of Polar Darkness.

During the summer, the sun never sets for five months, making the Midnight Sun. Qaanaaq is where traditional activities such as hunting with dog sleds, kayaks, and harpoons are still necessary for survival. During winter, the sea ice extends for more than a day’s dogsled from shore, and massive icebergs dwarf the colourful houses along the shore.
