Behind an unassuming terracotta façade, the hotel reveals a traditional Spanish “Casona” townhouse design where the guest areas are wrapped around an open central courtyard and handsome lap pool awash with beautiful period pieces – wooden sculptures, hand hammered copper, ceramic and metal artwork, regional textiles and oil paintings. There is no restaurant but a short walk along the cobbled streets will take you to a host of excellent options – the hotel is happy to offer recommendations. Posada del Angel is an oasis of tranquillity within bustling Antigua where you can find a moment of calm within the private garden or enjoy sweeping vires of the city and Volcanoes Fuego and Agua from the wonderful roof-top patio.
