Hotel Santo Tomas is a stone’s throw from Chichicastenango's famous market.
Hotel Santo Tomas is THE place to stay Chichicastenango, a mock colonial hacienda brimming with pot plants, flowers, trickling fountains and regional handicraft. Although only built in 1977, Santo Tomas honours the city’s golden-age roots with the rooms and communal areas wrapped around cobbled interior courtyards dressed with antique furniture and historic heirlooms. The mahogany bar and restaurant overlook one of the courtyards and offer a mix of national and international dishes. Towards the back of the hotel, there is also a handsome pool ringed with loungers as well as a jacuzzi and small gym. The hotel is the perfect base for exploring the market and provides a welcome oasis from the throngs of activity. Hotel Santo Tomas is popular with groups especially around market days and admittedly a touch tired and dated with caged macaws and toucans that dot the patios. That said, it is full of colour and regional character and fits the bill nicely for short overnight stays.
