Akureyri, Iceland’s little big city, offers a perfect blend of entertainment, art, and culture while providing a personal and close-to-nature experience. The city’s charm is undeniable with its brightly painted wooden houses, cozy bars, and steep streets leading down from the hills into the welcoming city centre.

Egilsstaðir is the thriving hub of the east, boasting the largest population in the region and offering all the services a traveller could require. Its sister town, Fellabær, is just across the bridge; together, they are home to almost 3000 inhabitants. Foodies will delight in Egilsstaðir’s local cuisine, with farm-fresh produce and locally-brewed beer available.

The park strongly emphasises preserving the environment, promoting local, sustainable development, and celebrating the surrounding culture, all while providing unparalleled opportunities for nature tourism.
