Forts & Palaces $$

Jaipur is a city split in to distinct neighbourhoods, and this heritage hotel is near the Old City. If you are visiting to shop for handicrafts, textiles and handmade puppets, Alsisar Haveli is a terrific base. It is just a 10 minutes drive from the Pink City, with its roads named after Bagru block printers and other artisanal guilds. The much-photographed Hawa Mahal, or 'Palace of the Winds, is 15 minutes away by car.
