Located in the picturesque area of Eastern Rajasthan between Agra and Ranthambhore sits the stunning 350 year old Ramathra Fort. The fort has been lovingly restored to its former glory and now operates as a spectacular heritage hotel.
Accommodation at Ramathra Fort consists of six rooms and six tents. The ensuite tents are scattered around the perimeter of the garden inside the ramparts whereas the rooms and suites are on the first and second floor of the main fort. Both options are spacious and tastefully decorated with traditional block fabrics and modern comfortable furnishing. An additional feature of the suites is that they have a large lounge area and balcony with an outdoor tub and shower, perfect for taking in the spectacular hillside views.
Ramathra Fort offers a great range of excursions for those keen to explore the local area. There are some superb walking opportunities to the local village, into the nearby gorges and around the The property also owns three vehicles offering jeep and night safaris.
In regards to dining at Ramathra Fort meals are generally eaten al fresco in the garden or ramparts. The exception is during periods of very cold or very hot times of year where there is a pleasant dining room that adjoins the garden. It is common for the hosts when in residence to join guests for pre-dinner drinks. An emphasis is made on providing simple but delicious international and Indian cuisine with many of the recipes used having been passed down through the family and using local Rajasthani ingredients. Please note that there is no room service available at Ramathra Fort.
The fort is open to guests all year round, however the tented accommodation generally closes from April to September. Ramathra Fort offers a genuine opportunity to experience rural India and the authentic fort lifestyle.
