Rohet is a fortified desert village located about 40 kms south of Jodhpur. The main attractions are the lake, which during the winter months attracts migratory birds, and a small 16th Century fort.
The Fort, is home to the descendants of the Rathores and has been converted into a beautiful heritage hotel – Rohet Garh. The property is set within beautiful tranquil gardens and it is within these grounds that Bruce Chatwin wrote “The Songlines” and William Dalrymple began “City Of Djinns”.
The visitor of today will experience the famed warmth of courteous Rajput hospitality combined with plenty of charm and character combined with modern day luxury.
For those preferring a more rural location then Rohet can be a good alternative to staying in Jodphur itself as the city can be reached easily within the hour.
