Welcome to Hungary

Meet with your private driver and guide this morning and start your Hungarian adventure with a tour of some of Budapest’s most famous landmarks. Visit the Hungarian Parliament Building and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. With your guide, wander along the Danube and learn how this waterway has played a crucial part in shaping the city.

Day 2

Exploring Budapest

After breakfast, meet with your guide again to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site, Buda Castle, and stroll through the cobbled streets of the Castle District. In the afternoon, take a dip in the healing waters of the famous Széchenyi Thermal Baths. End your evening with a dinner cruise on the Danube, where you can marvel at the city’s illuminated skyline.

Day 3

Discovering Pest

This morning your tour takes you to the Pest side of the city, with your guide explore St. Stephen’s Basilica, the largest church in Hungary and indulge your senses with a tour of the Great Market Hall and sample some of Hungary’s delicacies. In the afternoon, visit the Jewish Quarter and visit the Dohany Street Synagogue. If you like spend the evening at one of the trendy ruin bars for an authentic Budapest nightlife experience.

Day 4

Eger and the Valley of Beautiful Women

This morning, after breakfast, meet your guide and head to Eger. The baroque town is known for its wine production. Explore Eger Castle, and in the afternoon, take a private tour of one of the wineries in the Valley of Beautiful Women region and sample the local Bull’s Blood wine.

Aggtelek National Park and Caves

Head to Aggtelek National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, today and take a private guided tour of Baradla Cave to appreciate the stalactite and stalagmite formations, which have taken a millennium to form. Returning to Eger for the night.

Day 6

Debrecen and Hortobágy National Park

After breakfast, meet your driver and travel to Hungary’s second-largest city, Debrecen, to tour the Reformed Great Church and other notable sites. In the afternoon, explore the Hortobágy National Park, famous for its vast plains and traditional Hungarian shepherd culture.

Day 7

Szeged and the Royal Palace of Gödöllő

This morning, you’ll travel to Szeged, a city well known for its Art Nouveau architecture. Visit the Votive Church and then head to Anna Medical Bath for a traditional spa treatment or sauna.
After lunch, tour the Gödöllő Palace, the former summer residence of Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

Lake Balaton

After breakfast, visit the charming town of Tihany, where you’ll explore its historic Benedictine Abbey. Then continue your journey to Lake Balaton, the largest lake in Central Europe. You can spend the afternoon relaxing or engage in lake activities.

Veszprém and the Bakony Hills

This morning, you’ll drive to Veszprém and visit the 10th-century Veszprém Castle and Saint Michael’s Cathedral before continuing onto the Bakony Hills, where you’ll take a guided hike through lush forests.

The Danube Bend

Take a scenic drive this morning along the towns that line the Danube River. Explore Szentendre, known for its vibrant arts scene and charming streets, and visit the Szentendre Open-Air Museum. Continue on to Visegrád to see the medieval citadel, and finally, travel to Esztergom to visit the impressive Basilica.

Pécs and the Early Christian Necropolis

Explore Pecs, and its UNESCO-listed Early Christian Necropolis then the Mosque of Pasha Qasim. Wander through the lovely Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, dedicated to the renowned ceramics of the town.

Day 12

Scenic drive to Budapest

This morning, you journey north back to Budapest. Explore the charming towns of Szekszárd and Villány, known for their wine production and stop for some tastings along the way.
Have lunch at Lake Velence, and if you’d like, visit the Bird Sanctuary and the Dinnyés Marshes Nature Reserve to see indigenous and migratory birds before reaching Budapest in the evening.

Today is free to explore Budapest on your own, take in some of the sights you may have missed or would like to revisit, or simply shop for those last-minute souvenirs.

Hungary experiences a temperate climate, with cold winters and warm summers. January is one of the coldest months of the year, with temperatures ranging from -4°C to 1°C. It’s important to pack warm clothing and layers if you plan to visit during this time. The best time to visit Hungary is during the months of April to October when the weather is mild and pleasant. During these months, the temperatures are usually between 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

Perfect add-on destinations include Czechia with its enchanting capital, Prague, known for its stunning architecture and vibrant nightlife. From there, you could head to Slovakia, where the majestic High Tatras Mountains offer breathtaking hiking trails and picturesque villages.
