Mitrovica. This beautiful city is located on the banks of the river Ibar and Sitnica. Mitrovicë is characterised by ethnic diversity, dominated by Albanians, followed by Serbs, Bosniaks, Turks, Roma and other ethnic groups.
Mitrovica is divided into two parts: North Mitrovica and South Mitrovica. In North Mitrovica, Serbs predominate, while in South Mitrovica, a large percentage are Albanians. There is a bridge over the Ibar that divides Mitrovica into two parts. If you are a museum fan, we recommend visiting the City Museum of Mitrovica, founded in 1952. It is in the former House of the Yugoslav Army in the city centre. The Mitrovica City Museum houses over 1,000 archeological artifacts from various historical periods and displays over 800 ethnological handicrafts, historical materials, documents, and geological and numismatic collections.
