Founded by the British in 1869 as an administrative post. Over the past few decades, Maseru has rapidly expanded to become a major city in the region. Maseru boasts a temperate climate, good selection of shops and good quality restaurants and accommodation.

While it doesn’t have the tourist attractions in the city that it’s South African counterparts do, Maseru is where you can get your bearings, sort out logistics and stock up on supplies before heading into the highlands and beyond.
