Location
The lodge is a rustic international-standard resort built beside the Danum River in the centre of Sabah, deep in the heart of a primary rainforest jungle and far removed from human habitation. Unlike some mass-market tourist destinations, the lodge provides accommodation for a maximum of just 60 people, thus ensuring each guest a unique and individual jungle experience.

WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL
The chalets are built on stilts and are both clean and spacious. The fan cooled (you don’t need air conditioning) standard chalets don’t have much in the way of facilities but realistically you will not be spending time in your room whilst here. Each room has a great balcony, many with views to the gently flowing nearby river, a great place to watch and listen to the surrounding jungles. The newer villas are quite simply superb, think private pools and butler service!
The restaurant serves excellent buffet style meals which include a good mix of local and international dishes. There is a well stocked library and presentation room that will give you any information about the surrounding areas you need.
You will be assigned a guide that will accompany you on lodge activities including jungle walks, bird watching, canopy walkways high above the jungle floor and exciting night safaris into the jungle. The guides are excellent and will share their full knowledge about the local culture, fauna and flora and give you a deeper understanding of the primeval Borneo Rainforest and the conservation issues facing Borneo today.
For any true nature lover the Danum Valley offers the most comprehensive, unforgettable and inspiring jungle rainforest experience. Waking to the gibbon calls or your guide waking you at 5am to show you a wild orang utan in a nearby tree is what this type of holiday is all about. The rooms are more than adequate, kind of motel like, but set in the middle of nowhere! Even though getting here is quite a task, the overall experience is one you will never forget. Just wonderful!
