WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

Nestled amidst 50 acres of tropical gardens and jungle that echo with bird-song, Chan Kah is a charming tropical resort in easy reach of the spectacular site of Palenque. Small stone pathways wind through the grounds beneath towering palm trees while follow the course of the “Michol” river and you stumble upon a large tiered lagoon-style swimming pool amidst the lush foliage. The “Casita Bungalows” are dotted amongst the property and althought simple, they all feauture their own terrace overlooking the lush grounds – perfect for admiring the local wildlife. At the heart of the resort, a 2 story lodge houses the games room, bar and restaurant overlooking the pool and delivers a good mix of international and regional flavours.
Chan Kah is ideally placed for visits to Palenque and can arrange guided tours and transfers. The free-form pool offers a refreshing respite from the heat especially after a day exploring the pyramids and is the perfect spot for observing the resident birdlife and howler monkeys. Admittedly, the resort is a touch dated and popular with groups yet the facilities, location and tropical environment more than make up for its shortcomings – a great alternative to staying in the village itself.
