Montenegro - Oasis Highlights

There are so many highlights in this fascinating country that it is impossible to list them all here. Our travel consultants will discuss your interests and be able to put a specific itinerary together for you, but below are a few must seeā€™s!

Budva

Budva, a former peaceful coastal town, has now become a bustling hub of Montenegrin tourism. During the summer, it is one of the busiest and most vibrant towns on the Montenegrin coast. Its beginnings date back two and a half millennia ago when it was established on a headland. Today, it has expanded beyond its ramparts and offers luxurious yachts, modern buildings, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs that promise unforgettable fun. Additionally, Budva boasts its own version of Hawaii- an island situated across the city with stunning beaches, refreshing drinks, and seafood delicacies.

Podgorica

Podgorica, a city amidst five rivers – Zeta, Moraca, Ribnica, Cijevna, and Sitnica, got its name in 1326. Though most of the city was destroyed during World War II, it has been rebuilt with modern buildings and green spaces at every turn. Podgorica is known for hosting cultural events and boasts several theatres, including Crnogorsko Narodno, Gradsko, and Dodest. The city is home to several cultural and historic landmarks such as Sahat-kula Adzi-pasa Osmanagica, the ruins of Nemanjica Grad, remnants of the city of Doclea, Stara Varos, and Vezirov. Podgorica has excellent transit connections with other centres.

Plav

Located at the base of the Prokletije Mountain range, Plav sits on the springs of the river Lim. Its name is believed to have originated from the Roman Emperor Phlavius during their reign. Plav is home to numerous lakes, with the Plavsko lake being the most well-known. This glacier lake is one of the largest and most beautiful in the region. Additionally, Plav boasts Hridsko and Visitorsko, both mountain lakes, with Visitorsko featuring a unique floating island. Visitors to Plav can also explore its karst wells, including Alipasa wells and Oko Skakavica.
