Eilert Smith Hotel is a small hotel that makes a big impression. Named after the local architect who created the original functionalist building, its curved lines and monochrome exterior are 1930s all over. Inside, this Nordic-chic escape creates a modernist base for exploring the city. But with a boutique collection of rooms and suites – each an original – and a double Michelin-starred restaurant here, this hotel is a destination in its own right. Being small means every detail is perfectly formed. Behind each door, from the Deluxe Double to the Superior Suite, are fresh white tones, wooden accents and personal kitchens – for locally brewed coffee through to pre-supper wine. And when it comes to dinner, it could be at one of Norway’s landmark restaurants. RE-NAA calls Eilert Smith Hotel home and counts two Michelin stars amongst its accolades.
