Rustaq was Oman’s capital in the 17th century and remains an important regional centre.
The imposing fort is a structure built on three levels and contains separate houses, an armoury, a mosque and four towers. Visit the healing warm springs of Ain Al Kasfah, the water here runs at 45 °C and is regarded as a cure for rheumatism and skin diseases due to the high Sulphur content.
