The Sol y Luna is an excellent deluxe option in the Sacred Valley surrounded by pretty gardens and constructed in natural materials, that blend in nicely with the environment. The facilities are second to none and at 2800m above sea-level, this is an ideal base to relax, acclimatise and explore the area.

Originally constructed in 1810 and the former home of Don Manuel de Orihuela, La Casona de Yucay is a charming boutique hotel offering a rich slice of colonial history. The rooms are light and airy, set amdist four separate courtyards awash with flowers and native plants. Although far from luxurious, it offers excellent value for money while for history buffs, ask for “Habitacion 136”, the very room where Simon de Bolivar stayed during his 1825 visit.

The name says it all! Skylodge comprises of three transparent capsules bolted to a vertical granite rock face some 200m above the ground, accessed via a 40 minute hike or negotiating a “via ferrata” series of metal ladders and wires anchored to the cliff. Dating back to the 18th century, the Posada del inca occupies the grounds of a 300 year old Franciscan monastery replete with a picturesque chapel that has shaped the tone of the hotel design. Although admittedly, the hotel does have a resort feel popular with groups, it has been immaculately done and offers an insight into the traditional history and culture of the Sacred Valley. Moreover, it is excellent value for money and one of our go-to mid-range options in the Sacred Valley.
