Szczecin

Poland - Pomerania and Gdansk

Szczecin, the capital of a province with a stunning 185 kilometres of coastline, boasts three main squares interconnected by a radial network of streets modelled after the squares in the beloved French capital.

The square layout reflects the position of the pyramids of Giza near the Nile and the Orion constellation around the Milky Way. However, the city has much more to offer. Visitors are often surprised that Szczecin is not a coastal city but lies on the River Oder, which is undeniably majestic. To fully appreciate its beauty, stand on the terraces of the Chrobry Embankment or embark on a scenic cruise that includes a visit to the wreck of a 90-metre reinforced concrete German tanker, the Ulrich Finsterwalder, which sank in Lake Dąbie during World War II. This serene and photogenic lake is the fourth-largest inland reservoir in Poland and offers beaches and a bathing area. The city also has other lakes such as Głębokie, Dziewoklicz, and Miedwie, all boasting beaches.
