Coimbra, located on the banks of the river Mondego, is renowned for its university- the oldest in Portugal and one of the oldest in Europe.
Over time, it has earned the moniker “the city of students”. Our visit starts at this historic university, founded in the XIIIth century and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The classification also encompasses Rua da Sofia and the upper part of the city. One must climb its tower, which houses the bells signalling the start and end of classes, to relish the breathtaking 360º view of Coimbra.
