Óbidos, a medieval town in Portugal, boasts of its picturesque charm and excellent preservation.
It is strategically located on high ground near the Atlantic coast, making it a vital territory even before the arrival of the Romans in the Iberian Peninsula. The town flourished after being chosen by the royal family, particularly King Dinis, who offered it to his wife, Queen Isabel, in the 13th century. As part of the Casa das Rainhas (Queens’ Estate), the town was improved and enriched throughout various dynasties, resulting in a high concentration of churches in this small but significant place.
