Situated 15 kilometres, west of Doha, Al Wajba fort was built in the late 18th or early 19th century and is today, one of the oldest forts in Qatar. Its historical importance derives from the site of a famous battle where the Ottomans were defeated in 1893.
Once used as a residence for His Highness Hamad Abdullah Al Thani during various periods of history, for visitors, to this remarkable place, you’ll admire one of its prominent features - the four looming watchtowers, standing out impressively in stark contrast to everything else in a predominantly flat area.
