Peles Castle

Romania - Bucharest & Southern Romania

King Carol I of Romania commissioned the construction of Peles Castle in 1883, which serves as the monarchy’s summer residence and boasts political, cultural, and symbolic significance.

The castle features 160 rooms, connected by numerous entrances, a staircase, and a small theatre with 60 seats. It was equipped with modern amenities for its time, including an electric motor that powers the glass ceiling in the Hall of Fame, a lift/elevator for inter-floor access, and central heating. Notably, Peles Castle was the first fully electrified castle in Europe.
