Aberdeen

Scotland - Aberdeen and The Northeast

Sitting on Scotlandā€™s northeast coast, Aberdeen boasts unique architecture, a captivating history and a lively social scene.

Union Street in Aberdeen is the gateway to over 800 shops, restaurants and bars, or if youā€™re looking for a relaxed haven, there are many flower-filled parks to chill out in. The city has its golden sandy beach, just a few minutes walk from the city centre. Regarding architecture, Aberdeen will linger in your memory for its beautiful glinting buildings made of sparkling, locally quarried granite. The opulent Marischal College is made of this distinctive stone, as is the stunning His Majestyā€™s Theatre and Aberdeen Art Gallery. North of the centre lies the cobbled streets and historic buildings of Old Aberdeen. Take a stroll here to see the beautiful buildings of King’s College and St Machar Cathedral. To the south, visit the harbour to see boats bobbing in the water and dolphins playing and stroll around the historic streets of Footdee, the cityā€™s traditional fishing quarter. The sandy beach and amusement arcades are just a short amble along the esplanade from here too.
