WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

Known as the Palacio Marqués de la Sonora, Palacio Solecio is an historic building from the eighteenth century that has been renovated in keeping with its original architectural and artistic style. The palace was the property of Félix Solesio, from Genoa, who settled in Malaga to run the Real Fábrica de Naipes in Macharaviaya, established in 1776 on the orders of José de Gálvez, Minister of the Indies from the Court of Charles III of Spain and the Marquess of Sonora. Upstairs and down, boutique Palacio Solecio wraps you up in a warm Andalusian atmosphere. Located in the main patio, Balausta Restaurant boasts elegance, décor and fresh cuisine from the South of Spain. Michelin-starred chef, José Carlos García, creates a world of flavours with delicious local seasonal ingredients maintaining the essence of Andalusian cuisine. The bar is a sophisticated space perfect to enjoy a cocktail or a glass of delicious local wine. This historical home and hotel is one of our favourite hotels in the city.
