Trincomalee is an interesting town that is once again beginning to flourish after being out of bounds due to Sri Lanka’s civil war.
Since the end of the conflict the eastern cities and beach areas are once again open for tourism with new boutique hotels opening up along the coast. The city offers some interesting cultural attractions in particular, Tiru Koneswarum which is one the Tamil community’s most important temples. The area also offers some of the country’s best beaches which are a great option when the southwest monsoon hits the southern beach resorts.
