Chiang Mai

Thailand - Northern Thailand

The capital of Northern Thailand is Chiang Mai. The country’s second city has grown dramatically over the past few years but has still managed to retain its colourful charm and peaceful ambience. The city with its ancient walls, bustling night bazaar and many temples is a must see on any itinerary to Thailand. Using Chiang Mai as your base it is easy to explore the surrounding area, treks of all levels to nearby hill tribes, elephant riding in the surrounding jungles, learning to cook Thai food, exploring the local markets all go to making the city a wonderful experience that will suit all tastes. All of this is set to a magical backdrop of green mountains with the dominant Doi Suthep with its mystical hilltop temple over looking the city. There are many hotels and restaurants to choose from, all of them offering outstanding value and excellent service levels. This is one of our favourite cities in Asia, to many people regret not staying longer, give yourself at least 3 nights to get the most out of your time here!
